Interesting article - as a developer on the project, it's very gratifying to see kino actually being used :-).
In case you're interested, kino 0.51 is out now and supports integration with mjpeg 1.6.0 tools (for mpeg/divx exports), a trim page and some basic video and audio fx options as well as minimalistic plug-in functionality.

Congratulations for your excellent article, it helped me a lot solving some problems and now I am able to capture and edit my videos.

hola ,estoy entrando en el uso multimedia en software libre.....y quiero saber si el codigo q tienes sobre el IEEE1394 es solo para kino, o para cualquier producto de soft libre en el cual quiera utilizar la importacion de video...por favor, si me pueden responder al correo seria genial...graciass
