[ date: 2003-11-04 ]
Great article! I hope we will see more of them in LinuxFocus!

I also wish to express my thanks for this interesting article. I am not a GIMP user, but I did learn one of its powerful features here.

thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you!!!
I've been looking for documentation on how to create brushes in the GIMP. I had figured out the regular alpha channel brushes on my own but the "pipe" or animated brushes were eluding me. Now, with some practice, I will hopefully be able to make some decent textures. THANK YOU!

This tutorial is awesome. It was very well written- it explained everything thoroughly but wasn't condescending. It was very easy to follow. Good job! I also hope to see lots more. I will definitely keep an eye out. Thank you so much! : )

Have to second Amy's comment and say thanks too.
A real oasis in a desert (help on the internet) of the 3 basics for imparting knowledge...
1. Tell me, 2. Show me, 3. Get me to do.
Of course the real power of them comes from taking a step back to see from a learners view - as you have done here, exceptionally well.
Thank you very much! :)

Very well composed. You wrote it by leading via example, which gets people motivated to do something by themselves after learning how to do it.
I as a daily gimper found this quite a pleasant read. I wasn't that up to date with the animated brush exportation nor on coloured brushes, so you've helped me out there.

Will these brushes that are used in the tutorial be available for download sometime?
