You can automate mounting removable media with mounttero, an autofs map.
To use usb camera, cd /mnt/auto/usb, use normal commmands to copy files. When you leave the directory, the camera is automatically umounted. I am the author of mounttero.

A very valuable article. Although I think I am relatively experienced in Linux, there a new facts. May I give a hint for managing files with mtools, if you have you use the X-environment? A very nice program is mtoolsmfm. It is like the MC, but extremeley simplified. But normally mfmtools shoud be sufficiant for normal file operations like copying oder moving etc. I use it for floppies on my workstation.

BTW: The mtools do not work with a cdrom. This is the error message:
init D: non DOS media
Cannot initialize 'D:'

Obviously the mtools do not recognize the iso9660 fs as a part of DOS.

Thank you for this article.
