A victim of Frontenac

This little booklet was made available by Thomas Lee in 1959. It provides insights into the personality and character of François D'Urfé as well as Louis Frontenac, François-Marie Perrot and other leaders in New France.

Here are two of the "advertisements" for this booklet in the News & Views. The version from the 1970s seems to have had a different layout.

N&V Oct. 1971, "advertisement" for the "A victim of Frontenac" booklet. The price of a stamp for an oversized letter in 1971 tells you something about inflation. It mentions 22 pages while my copy has 16 pages + foreword.

François de Salignac Fénelon (1651-1715), Archbishop of Cambrai. This is the younger half brother of our François de Salignac Fénelon (1641-1679), Sulpician, missionary. They have identical names and both were born in the same Château Fénelon in Périgord, France. The Archbishop is more commonly known because of the books and poems that he wrote.

The booklet is the translation of a speech given in French by Abbé Armand Yon (1895-1981, born in Montreal) on September 25, 1945 in Toronto.
